Jeff Johnson

“BET Host, Producer, Political Motivator and Social Commentator”

– Jeff Johnson was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He was an active leader as a child and an engaged participant in track and field. Johnson went on to further his education on a track scholarship at the University of Toledo, located in Toledo, Ohio. It was here that he found his passion in activism. He gave up his athletic scholarship to devote more time to his activist positions. He was elected President of the Black Student Union twice, and played an integral role in the formation of black student awareness on campus. He led a march to the doorsteps of the home of the President of the University. The demands of the march included creating an Africana studies program, University Bus Service in the Black Community, including Black faculty and students on the All Executive Search Committees, and the creation of a Minority Retention Program. He was successful in the getting all of these demands instated on campus within a year.

– Recently, Johnson was named by Source Magazine as one of the hip hop generation’s key political players.

– In every aspect of his political leadership, Johnson has been highly instrumental in representing and articulating the views of young people and galvanizing voters to the polls.

one quote by Jeff Johnson that caught my eye.

“The time is now,” he asserts. “The youth of today are the leaders of TODAY. If we fail to sow the seeds of education and real leadership into our young people today, we will be forced to reap the weeds of our ignorance verses the flowers of our love tomorrow.”

it’s time 2 raise social awareness.
